Autolumination LED & SuperBrightLED Marker Lights
12/15/2004
Updated 4/28/2013: I contacted superbrightleds.com and asked if they had any newer LEDs to try. They suggested the WLED-xHP5: 194 LED Bulb – 5 SMD LED Wide Angle Wedge Base WLED-WHP5: Cool White. They claim these seem to be better in high heat applications. Time will tell.
Updated 4/14/2007: Finally gave up and reinstalled the stock bulbs. Too much heat for LEDs in the headlight housing. Too bad. I really liked the look of the LED bulbs. I had the same issues trying there in my Mazda RX8.
Updated 8/6/2006: The Autolumination bulbs are also starting to fail. I guess there’s just too much heat in the ST headlight for any brand of LEDs. 🙁
Updated 5/5/2006: I’ve given up on the Superbright LEDs and have switched to the Autolumination 194 LEDs. So far, so good.
Updated 8/24/2005: I recently had several of the LEDs in these arrays fail so I ordered some replacements from SuperBright. I also noticed that they came with a one year warranty. SuperBright <was> going to replace them until they realized I was using these lights in an application that subjected them to the heat of the headlight bulbs. They claim that LEDs cannot withstand this type of heat for a long period of time. I went ahead and bought some of their ‘next generation’ bulbs to give it another shot, but was told I would not be getting free replacement bulbs under warranty.

WLED-xHP5: 194 LED Bulb

The following bulbs did NOT work!

WLED-X6 LED 12 volt bulb from SuperBrightLED.

Has the same type of connector as the stock bulbs.

The bulbs look pretty blue, but in an HID type of way. Very bright!
