TurboCity Fuel Pressure Regulator

8/15/2005 Update: I’ve had a chance to put about 2000 miles on the bike now with the regulator installed. My initial impression was ‘Wow!’. Now that I’ve put more miles on the bike I still like the modification, but have noticed a few good and bad things. All in all it’s still a worth while modification! Far superior to either a Dynojet Powercommander or the Techlusion TFI.
First off, I’m getting the best fuel mileage since I got the bike. On a recent trip to Banff I got a low of 39.4 mpg and a high of 46.6 mpg. This was with some pretty aggressive riding. With the Techlusion TFI I was averaging at least 5 mpg lower than this at best!
There is what feels like more engine braking occurring now. It’s easier to scrub off speed by just letting off the throttle.
The regulator goes a long ways towards eliminating the flat spots. At first I thought they were gone, but while traveling down some of the passes I notice a few flat spots on deceleration. I think these or more obvious though because of the increased engine braking mentioned earlier. You can feel a bit of surging when you add or subtract throttle cruising down step grades. I feel it occasionally on flat highways, but it happens far less and is a ‘different’ feel that the stock flat spots. More analog and not as abrupt. It feels more like a carbureted engine.
I’m not sure if this last one is an altitude thing or what, but I noticed the bike actually feels like it’s loading up a bit while idling or rolling on the throttle in high gears. Without the TC regulator I could roll on the throttle in just about any gear at any speed. With the TC regulator I actually noticed some slow response off idle. The bulk of the trip was at some fairly high altitude so it could be related to that??
I’ll update these findings again as I get even more miles on the setup.

Here’s what the replacement regulator looks like. Just like the stock one, except it operates at 57 psi, not the stock 50 psi. I installed it and removed the Dynojet O2 eliminators and the Techlusion TFI I had previously installed.

With Heli riser I just hang the tank on my throttle lock when I have it up.

Air box removed. You can see the stock regulator at the end of the fuel rail with the blue paint on it. I only need the impact driver for one of the 8 screws. The rest came out by hand.
