I didn’t use there brackets to mount auxilary lights, rather I used them to build a stable camera mount for my GoPro Camera. Worked GREAT as you can see below!
Edited 8/3/2016: As it turns out the vibration from the mirror, even on relatively smooth road surfaces, caused the GoPro to vibrate to the point the videos were unusable. 🙁 However, I ended up keeping these mounts and installing a pair of LED lights. You can see the light install here.

First I enlarged the stock light mounting hole to 8.5mm and then tapped it for M10 x 1.25 for the 1″ RAM balls

Painted the mounting plates flat black

RAM 1″ balls with M10 x 1.25 threads and matching nuts from Home Depot

RAM balls screwed into place with the retaining nut.
