2018 Ride
We met at the Cle Elum Warriors gas station and headed
East to Hwy 10 and then South on 97, this splits off after a 1/4 mile and starts
rising thru farmlands and rolling hills to the BDR, about 4 miles are paved then
it changes to dirt and gravel roads. We rode up thru the switchbacks in the
forest across the Blewitt Pass ridge and towards Wentachee. Some thunderclaps
and dark clouds were near but we didint get rained on and had cool weather. We
had some different conditions including deep ruts and washouts. The TW 200s were
easier to ride on some of these sections but we all kept going on until we got
too a steep and rough washout near FS 330. Paul and Tom walked up a bit and we
concluded it would be too much for us to handle. We turned around and after a
few miles stopped off for a picnic that Chris had with some cheese and
crackers. We rode about 10 miles met a few groups of bikers one that rode the
BDR from Packwood and we went on to the Hwy 97 cutoff which put us right on top
of the Blewitt Pass Highway. Tom and I headed back home and Alisa, Chris, Pawel
S. and Pawel K. headed down to Leavenworth and then onto the Cashmere/Chelan
section the next day. A great day and some education on how and what our bikes
can handle.
