2009 SPAMS Ride - Day 7 - 8/7/2009 Friday
Today we left and had a nice ride in cool weather to Crater Lake and then it
got colder, 38 degrees and foggy at the top. Tom borrowed my rain pants and
Steven my winter gloves and they were skeptical but at the rim there was sun at
the lodge so we got great pics and checked out the rim. Then it was fog again 50
feet of visibility as we felt our way down the hill into clear and warmer temps,
very slowly,I really felt sorry for Steven. We stopped at the Sharis for lunch
in Bend, good food as in the pictures on the menu then a boring ride on 97 to
the Dalles except the final section on 197.
We did have another tire issue. Steven hit a small rock shaped like a small
arrowhead and very sharp and got a leak before Bend in his rear tire, he noticed
it and we stopped at a gas station. Greg got his tire kit from NAPA which is a
great one and Tom his compressor and in 10 minutes his tire was plugged. The
tire is holding the air and we ride on home tomorrow.
Good ride!
