2009 SPAMS Ride - Day 5 - 8/5/2009 Wednesday
The
next day we had a great breakfast across the street from the motel then off to
Lost Coast Suzuki for a rear tire for Tom. He got 2 tires they had in the back
for 100.00 in 30 minutes , Bridgestones and he has a front strapped to his pack,
great service. Then the guy said you have to take this road to hwy 1 and its
great.. it was for 10 miles then pockmarked pavement for 20 miles!!! Finally we
got to Hwy 1 which was great and the final section west of Leggett 22 miles. So
let me set the scene, new blacktop 20 and 35 mph corners, cars pulling over and
mostly uphill, zowie..... Paul me and Tom were cooking then Steven on the GSXR
and Greg. Great road, camber, clean, smooth, silky, fast, shady, cool and a cop
with a pulled over Harley rider which we had warning on by a guy on a F1, It was
all worth it. Then the same loser at in Chico told us to go down to Shelter
Cove, great road and scenery he said, not really especially the road quality. We
stopped in the Redwoods forest here and that is of course amazing. Rode into
Eureka as the sun was setting and went for great Itaian, so far the best dinner.
Off to Oregon tomorrow and we may backtrack to get Adams idea 36 and a road
flaggers as well!!! RT running well but may need to get a R1200GS ...
