Dynojet Research - Power Commander 7/4/2004

I also have had the bike dyno tested. Pictures here. You can read a complete write up
of the trip to the dyno here.

NOTE!: There are known 'issues' with Power Commander, (PC), and '04 ST1300s. I have not
heard of a successful Power Commander install on an '04 ST1300. I <have> heard of one
other failure in addition to mine. They DO work on '03 ST1300's. I've even performed
one install on an '03. I don't know if they work on '05 ST1300's. The symptoms of the
issue are hesitation and stalling of the engine at take off. This can be EXTREMELY
dangerous as your bike <may> stall as you attempt to enter traffic!! I was nearly hit and
almost dumped my bike due to this issue!!

I have been in contact with Dynojet off and on since the dyno testing in August 2004.
They have yet to determine the problem. My last inquiry to Michael Belcher of Dynojet
went unanswered. The last time I heard from them they were looking for an '04 ST in the
North Las Vegas area that they could perform extensive testing with. I heard one of their
reps at a bike show made a similar request to another lister. They still advertise the PC on
their site, but I've heard they claim they are "out of stock" if you actually try to purchase
one for an '04. They claim these units were designed for the '04, not the '03, but they anly
seem to work on the '03s??

Buyer beware!!

Remove the left hand panel to gain battery access.

The Power Commander fits nicely into the tool kit pocket.

Next remove the tail cover.

The tail section comes off next to reveal the ABS and
ECU units. While I had the tail off with easy access to
the wiring harness I went ahead and installed my
Priority Plus lighting mods too.

ECU being removed. ABS unit still in place.

Disconnect the black plug.

Here you can see the Power Commander plug awaiting the ECU unit.

The other Power Commander plug can be seen here plugged into the original harness plug.

Everything in place. The other Power Commander plug is seen plugged into the "service plug".

The bike is started and you can see rpm's displayed on the laptop screen.

Now this is the way to adjust your bike's performance! No fuss, no muss!! I have
not personally experienced heat issues, but this should help prevent potential issues.
