Ivan's Fuel Cutoff Eliminator (FCE) 8/15/2010

9/15/2010 Bill Pratt and I swapped bikes and took a ride up to Snoqualmie Pass. Bill's bike is far better than it was, but is not as smooth as mine. His cruise control doesn't waver anymore as it did before the Ivan FCE. Bill does have the Staintuned pipes which may be the cause of the difference between our bikes.

9/8/2010 Returned from WeSTOC after a 12 day test of the Ivan FCE. The tempertures were low on this trip for the first 9 days and the FCE performed PERFECTLY! However, on the 10th day I started to have issues after the bike was warm and after a long downhill, minimal throttle section of road. After that the bike had an exaggerated 4,500 rpm bobble. Changes in throttle had no effect to a point, then the engine would kick back in with a sight surge as if the missing throttle response came all at once. I rode the bike for 10 miles to see if it would clear itself, and it did not. I pulled to the side of the road and shut the bike off, waited 5 seconds, then started it again. The problem was gone.

I called Ivan the following morning and described the issue. He figured the long downhill ride must have caused the ECU to turn off the O2 heaters creating the "issue".

He has sent me an updated version of the FCE and I will be installing it for further testing.

8/16/2010 Took a 40 minute test drive tonight. 72F temps. VERY smooth throttle response! Nothing to date has worked this well to solve the rough throttle issues and drive lash. Cautiously optimistic this will be the solution!!
