Autocom Installation 4/13/2003
Before starting the installation I decided to clean up a rats
nest of wiring
above the headlight.
The buss in the lower right is fed from a buss in the tail section.
The Autocom was attached to the tail section as show with velcro. The wiring
buss sits on top of the 12v to 6v power converter for the Archos Jukebox FM
Recorder, which sits on top of a 'choke' for clean power. The choke was
mounted
in a Radio Shack box and powered from the auxiliary fuse panel. The
power from
the choke leads to the power buss shown. I made the Archos
power source by
breaking apart a 12v to 6v converter from Radio Shack and
mounting it in another
hobby box. The power buss in the front fairing is also
attached to this isolated
buss. The idea was to keep the audio circuits for the
mp3, V-1 radar detector,
Cell phone, Autocomm and future bike to bike radio
completely separate from the
power circuits to prevent noise. Although the
power comes from the same switched
auxiliary fuse panel that feeds the heated
vest, gloves and grips, it all feed
through the isolation choke first.
This shows the the route of the power loom running from the
front buss to
the
rear buss.
Switched auxiliary fuse panel. Two 10amp fuses power BMW outlets for
my Gerbing liner and gloves. Another
feeds the Fiam horn circuit. The forth
powers the Hotgrips. The 5 amp circuit
powers the audio circuit shown in
the pictures above.
