BHR Coils 7/31/2010
My RX8 has been feeling like it's been running on 3 of 4 cylinders for a
while. It was also making a strange 'chirping'
noise at startup. Sounded just like the noise you get if you lug the engine
at takeoff. The dealer told me the on-board
computer was reporting a failing coil. The dealer wanted $75 apiece for stock
replacement coils and another $500 to
install them. I decided to go with the BHR coils and to replace them myself.
After the install the car runs amazingly well! I'd say like the day I drove
it home on day one! The BHR coils are a
great mod for your RX8 if your coils are acting up.
The coils are located under the air intake duct
Airbox removed
Air duct removed to expose coils
The stock coils with obvious damage/burns on the bottom
Driver side wheel removed to access the spark plugs
